With the vacation season approaching, it’s time for a sunny print to shine the spotlight on yet another special project. Since last October, I have had the privilege of working with clients Marianne and Jos on the renovation and expansion of the attractive 1960s bungalow in Nuenen that they bought last year.

The original bungalow is severely outdated in energy terms. Earlier this month it was well experienced that the energy requirement TO-July is greatly exceeded due to the moderate insulation of the roof. Therefore, with the high-quality insulation of the building envelope and the renewal and modernization of the installation technology, the comfort after the major renovation will be much higher!

In the design of the renovation and expansion, the concept of the original design, masonry discs between which wooden window frames and facade parts, was respected and continued as much as possible. Materials were chosen to replace the high-maintenance wooden window frames, facade parts and eaves.

Simultaneously with the architectural design, KIM DE MAN drew for the interior and Marjolein Zoon designed the new garden. This created a total design in which all parts are coordinated.

Special thanks to Koen van Heeswijk for his input!
