In addition to my work as an architect, I have a hobby in architectural photography. From time to time I try to document my own projects as best I can, and I also do this for fellow architects on request. Even in my spare time, I get pleasure from photography. By doing it myself, or by watching or reading about the work of others.
This year I entered the “Architectural Photography Awards,” a major international architectural photography competition. After all, ‘he who does not dare, he who does not win’. So for the ‘Interior’ category I submitted six shots of the Grundtvigs Kirke in Copenhagen, where my friend Renske and I visited last summer. The visit to that church, which I had wanted to check out for so long, was intense and unforgettable for several reasons.
Out of all those architectural photographs submitted worldwide, the jury selected 4 in each of the 4 participating categories. Those 16 photos have been placed on the shortlist that has just been announced and among them is the photo below of mine! What an honor!
During the upcoming World Architecture Festival in early December, the final judging will take place and the winners will be announced. Winning is just “sideshow” because the honor of making it to the shortlist with this photo…that is already extremely great for me.
