Fine compliments from the gentlemen contractors towards the client about the set of drawings I made for the extension of a residential house.
At the same time the confirmation of my conviction that drawings should not only be clear and readable, but as a set should also contain extensive and complete information regarding materials, processing and the like. Thinking about how something can be made and continuing to learn every day from (and to!) the practice on the building site.
In my opinion, an investment in good and complete drawing work remains essential if you, as an architect, strive for a certain image and quality in which it is not only about the architecture, but also about matters such as construction, installation technology etc. After all, if you enlarge the living room with an extension of a house, I think that as a designer you also have to think about the consequences for, for example, the ventilation capacity and whether the necessary grid capacity is available and fits in with your details.

Now it is up to the (sub-)contractors to live up to the quality of the signed theory in practice. To be continued…
