Application of AI to the visualization of an architectural design for the remodeling of a contemporary 1930s-style home

AI (Artificial Intelligence) seems to be a magic word, or actually two, these days. I also see it more and more in the providers of the software I use. Sometimes it is actually useful and makes things (much faster and better) possible, but regularly I also think, added value 0.0, this is just to shout that you as a company are doing something with AI.

But it doesn’t stop me from trying new techniques, seeing what they can add and whether the possible cost outweighs the result. Trying also fits well with playing and learning for which no one is ever too old.

For the design for the renovation of a 1930s-style house built in 2003 in Brandevoort, I made a visualization of the new back facade. I’ll show more of that in due course, you may have to wait a little longer, after all, clients go before 😊

To add human size and scale in my visualizations, I always put one or more human figures in there as well. As you can see on the left, these are sometimes a bit ‘abstract’ to make the 3d model a bit more manageable. Never mind, the end justifies the means.

And then there’s AI. With a few clicks in Project Dream, a photographic sir suddenly rolls out that looks suspiciously like the figure in the 3d model. Especially with a photomontage of the visualization as in this case, this then does add to a sense of “reality” or “realness.

Sneaky plea to look at pictures and images quietly and a little longer. Can you see a lot of beauty (flaws) and marvel at (un)reality.
